Whether you're looking for a fun family outing or a romantic date night, ice skating is a great winter activity and a memorable holiday tradition. And for those of us who aren't coordinated enough to ice skate (I'm raising my hand right now) you can always cheer from the sidelines.

Following is a list of ice rinks, both indoor and outdoor, that we've found in the Lincoln area and within one hour of us. Always check the rink schedule-outdoor rinks have short seasons and many rinks will book out for private parties.

1) The Railyard Ice Rink (outdoor skating)

2) John Breslow Ice Hockey Center (indoor skating)

Admission: $6.50/adult, $5.50 youth and $3 skate rental

3) Eugene T Mahoney State Park (outdoor skating)
28500 West Park Highway, Ashland NE

Admission: $3 skate rental fee

4) Ralston Arena (indoor skating)

5) The Capitol District Ice Rink (outdoor skating)

7) UNMC Ice Rink (outdoor skating)
Between 42nd and 40th streets and Dewey and Emile Streets, Omaha

8) Motto McLean Ice Arena (indoor skating)
