The pre-show with Doc McStuffins gets everyone ready for the fun followed by classic favorites Mickey and Minnie. They start the show off by signing about which is better - princesses or pirates. Any parent knows this is a tough debate for kids and parents alike. Then two of the most popular children’s characters are brought to life on stage in full Disney splendor as Sophia the First and Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates take the stage. The show consists of two acts. The first act featured Sophia the First and the story of how she has to present a gift to the guests visiting the castle. It was engaging and fun. Act two follows with Jake and his pirate friends attempting to beat Captain Hook to specific location, but the end result was helping him instead. It is great reminder for everyone that helping others is more important than winning.

The singing and dancing by the performers was excellent! My girls were singing and dancing along with Sophia, Jake and all of their friends. They spent very little time in their seats.  Normally this wouldn’t be good, but in this case it was awesome. I loved seeing them so engaged with the show. They had been talking about seeing Sophia all day, but I think the action and adventure of Jake, Izzy, and Cubby stole the show for them. Each act was the perfect length of time, and there was a nice intermission in between acts to get the kids refueled for the second act.

Topping off our adventure we were honored to be special guests at a meet and greet with Sophia. My four-year-old could barely contain herself, and was so excited that she was able to ask Sophia what her favorite color was. She hasn’t stopped talking about it since! And if you are wondering her favorite color is purple. My two-year-old has been telling everyone she has seen all week “I meet Sophia First. I see pirates!”  You can't go wrong with anything Disney and the Disney Live! Princesses and Pirates Adventure show did not disappoint for this dad and kids. Don’t miss it next time it is in the area!
