As far as I am aware I don’t have dementia yet, but I have always thought the suggestion to write things down so that you don’t forget them is a bit daft - how do you know what you are going to forget? Or that something is important enough that you need to remember it in a couple of days?
Yes, write commitments like appointments on a wall calendar, we all do that but to write down somewhere that you went to the shops or that a friend came round for a cup of tea or the dog threw up on the carpet on Thursday or you put the packet of tea in the microwave oven, who knows if they are going to need that information in the future? Well, OK, you’ll need the tea but otherwise it’s all just ‘living’ and unremarkable.
Even if you write reminders down you still have to think about them and remember to read the note and then act on it.
I understand your problems @Lou Lou9 and I’m not trying to make light of them but sometimes other people’s logic appears illogical to me so what must it be like to someone with dementia?
